Fiber optic is a glass fiber through which data is exchanged at the speed of light. This is done with a blinking laser, allowing you to surf the internet super fast with fiber optic. Due to its high speed and bandwidth, fiber optic is the network of today and the future. Only fiber optic can meet the increasing data demand in our country. This reliable network never falters, allowing you to follow your online meeting or class without interruption.

Open Dutch Fiber constructs and manages the fiber optic network. We do not offer subscriptions. This is done by providers.

Fiber optic installation in your neighborhood

We are going to install fiber optic in your neighborhood. Here you can read how it will be done.

We are starting excavation work in the street. The sidewalk will be partially dug up and we will lay the fiber optic cables underground. A fiber optic cable is available for each house. The sidewalk is usually neatly closed again within one day. Before we start these works, you will receive a letter and a flyer with information from us. After that, we will (depending on the situation at your address) install the fiber optic connection in the house. Once the provider has installed their services, you can start using super-fast fiber optic internet.

The street or sidewalk is usually neatly closed again within one working day. We do our utmost to minimize the inconvenience.

We aim for a safe and careful execution of excavation works, with the safety of residents and employees being our top priority. Therefore, we do everything possible to minimize the number of damages caused by digging. Read What we do to prevent damages caused by excavation.

We install the fiber optic cable on a fiber optic connection point box. With this box, you can't do anything yet, only when the provider installs the router at the fiber optic connection point, you can enjoy super-fast internet, watch HD television, and make cheap phone calls.

How annoying that there is damage. Is this because of our work? Please inform us via. info@opendutchfiber.nl or call 088-1633 633. Then we will immediately start working on resolving this as best as possible.

Keep an eye on our website to see if your neighborhood will be connected soon.

Yes, the connection to the fiber optic network of Open Dutch Fiber is free. Except for a few addresses where a connection fee is required. These are often addresses located outside the village or city center and/or have longer distances from the street to the house. You can check the situation at your address via the postcode check on the website. Of course, there are costs associated with the subscription to a provider, but you pay those costs directly to the provider.

After the fiber optic cable has been brought into your house and terminated with a fiber optic connection point, and you have subscribed to a service with a provider, you will receive a message from the provider for the installation of services. Once the technician has installed the router and activated your fiber optic subscription, you can immediately start using the super-fast fiber optic network. If you are not yet a customer with a provider but still want to use the super-fast fiber optic internet, please contact a provider that offers services over our network.

This is definitely possible, but it is only done if a subscription has been taken out with one of our affiliated providers.

Yes, but it sometimes varies in terms of when and how. We prepare all homes for fiber optic installation. Sometimes we do this up to the property line, and sometimes you will already receive a fiber optic connection. After subscribing to a fiber optic plan, we will install the connection free of charge. fiber optic connection point in the house.

We always try to provide high-rise complexes with fiber optic in all the apartments of the building. Often we install the fiber optic connection point in the apartment, but sometimes it is hidden in the wall and we only install the fiber optic connection point in the apartment when you subscribe to a service. There are also addresses where a connection fee applies. Check the postcode for the situation at your address. After entering your postcode and house number in the postcode check, you can see what applies to your address.

Fiber optic installation in your home

Read below the questions related to the fiber optic installation in your home.

Determining the best location for the connection point is done in consultation. Often the best place is the meter cupboard, but another location is possible. If you live in a high-rise building, we will install the fiber optic connection point in each apartment in (approximately) the same location, in consultation with your Owners' Association or landlord.

Sometimes the fiber optic cable is hidden in the wall and we only install the fiber optic connection point in the house when you subscribe to a service.

The information you provide (name, phone number, and/or email address) will be passed on to the party responsible for installing the fiber optic connection point in your home. They will only be used to schedule an installation appointment.

This varies depending on the type of housing and location: - Single-family home: In some places, the fiber optic connection is not directly connected to the home, but is installed up to the property line.

When you subscribe to a provider, we will install the fiber optic connection point in your home for free. - Duplex and apartment buildings: In some cases, a fiber optic connection point may not be installed in the home. Residents of these buildings will receive a free connection point once one person in the building subscribes. Agreements will be made with your landlord or Homeowners' Association. - High-rise buildings: We will make agreements with your landlord or Homeowners' Association regarding connecting all units in the building.

Regardless of whether you subscribe to a plan, you will receive a free fiber optic connection point in your home. Sometimes it is hidden in the wall until you subscribe to a plan.

We will pass on this information to the party that will be responsible for installing the fiber optic connections in your building. They will then be able to schedule an appointment with you to install the fiber optic connection point. You can easily provide your information by using the postcode check on our website. Enter your postcode and house number, and fill in the form with the missing details.

First, we lay the fiber optic cable in the street and the neighborhood. We temporarily leave the cable above ground. These are the little spikes above the ground. This way, when we come back to connect the house, we can do so without having to dig up the street. For safety reasons, we always try to leave the spikes sticking out as close as possible to the property line.

During the work in the street and in the public areas of your complex, you do not need to be at home. For the installation of the fiber optic connection point in your home, you will first be contacted to schedule an appointment. Then it is necessary to be at home. Alternatively, ensure that another authorized adult is present.

No, there are no costs associated with connecting to the fiber optic network. Nor for installing a fiber optic connection point in your home, unless you have been notified by us that a connection fee is required to make a fiber optic connection at your address.

We do not install a fiber optic connection point in all homes directly. In some single-family homes, the fiber optic cable is laid at the property line. Once a subscription is taken out, we will install a fiber optic connection point in the home for free. Also, in apartment buildings and duplexes, a fiber optic connection point is not always installed in the home.

Residents of these houses will receive a connection point as soon as one person in the building subscribes to a subscription. In a high-rise complex, everyone will receive a fiber optic connection point in the house, regardless of whether someone has subscribed to a service. Sometimes we do this 'invisibly' and leave the fiber optic cable behind the wall until a subscription is taken out. Check the postcode for the situation at your address. After entering your postcode and house number, you can see what applies to your address.

This is definitely possible, but it is only done if a subscription has been taken out with one of our affiliated providers.

In most cases, when installing fiber optic cable in your garden, there is no digging in your garden. The fiber optic cable is drilled underground from the property line to your home. A hole is made at the facade of your home, the size of a paving stone, where the fiber optic cable emerges above ground. The cable then protrudes a small distance from the ground. This is temporary.

I have fiber optic.

If you already have fiber optic internet, you will find relevant questions here.

In case of a malfunction, always contact your provider. They will investigate the issue. If the malfunction is due to the equipment or your provider, they will help you resolve it. If the malfunction is due to our fiber optic network, your provider will inform us and we will solve the problem as soon as possible.

To use the new fiber optic network, you need to subscribe to a provider. On our website, you will find a postcode checker. When you enter your postcode and house number, you will immediately see which providers offer services at your address.

This way, we are providing more and more households with access to modern infrastructure and super-fast internet. Perform the postcode check. To see which providers are available at your address.
