Can you connect fiber optic yourself?
No, the fiber optic connection in the house is always done by a technician from Open Dutch Fiber. It involves technical work that needs to be done accurately.
"We always do the connection in the house ourselves," says Jeroen. "We have to weld the cable, test if there is a signal, and ensure that everything is properly finished." So, you don't have to install anything yourself. We make sure everything works properly and test the connection.
And your modem, do you have to connect it yourself?
Once the fiber optic cable is installed, you are ready to use it. Your provider will then take care of the final step: activating your internet. Sometimes you will receive an installation package with which you can connect your modem yourself. Other times, a technician from the provider will come to do this for you.
"Open Dutch Fiber provides the connection up to the house," says Jeroen. "After that, the provider takes over and provides the modem and activation."
You connect your modem to the fixed connection point that we have installed in your home. Usually, this is located in the meter cupboard.
