13,000 households in Purmerend will be provided with fiber optic.

In Purmerend, 13,000 households will have access to superfast internet via fiber optic from Open Dutch Fiber. The first households have been using internet via fiber optic with speeds of up to 1 Gigabit per second (Gbps) since the beginning of 2023. Open Dutch Fiber is once again connecting a large area to fiber optic, making a significant contribution to the further digitalization of the Netherlands.

The work started in November 2022. Residents from Gors, Zuidpolder, Stationsbuurt, Binnenstad, Hazepolder, and the neighborhoods Amerika, Afrika, and Azië were informed during the installation of the fiber optic network.

High-quality and reliable fiber optic connections

"Approximately half of all Dutch people now have access to high-speed internet via fiber optic. Compared to other countries in Europe, we are lagging behind in this aspect. High-quality and reliable fiber optic connections are essential for the Netherlands and necessary for many applications such as remote working and healthcare."" says Floris van de Broek, CEO of Open Dutch Fiber.

At Odido, other telecom providers can also make use of the fiber optic network under very attractive conditions."Open Dutch Fiber only installs fiber optic in areas where there is currently no fiber optic available. This way, we ensure that the whole of the Netherlands has access to competitive services via fiber optic as soon as possible."
