9,000 addresses in Weesp will be provided with fiber optic.

In Weesp, 9,000 addresses will have access to superfast internet via fiber optic Open Dutch Fiber. It is expected that the first households can start using internet via fiber optic with speeds of up to 1 Gigabit per second (Gbps) from February 2024. Open Dutch Fiber is once again connecting a large area to fiber optic, making a significant contribution to the further digitalization of the Netherlands.

Open Dutch Fiber is working on rolling out fiber optic to over 2 million addresses by 2025. The focus is on urban areas where fiber optic is not yet available. With Weesp, Open Dutch Fiber is once again connecting a large area to fiber optic, making a significant contribution to the further digitalization of the Netherlands.

"Approximately half of all Dutch people now have access to high-speed internet via fiber optic. Compared to other countries in Europe, we are lagging behind in this respect.
