Fiber optic installation in Roosendaal will start in January 2022.
Open Dutch Fiber will now also offer super-fast internet via fiber optic in Roosendaal. The construction was jointly initiated by both parties. Cees Lok, alderman of Economy, was also present. At the end of January, Open Dutch Fiber will start the construction in a large number of neighborhoods: Centrum, West, Oost, Noord, Kortendijk, Langdonk, and Groot Kroeven en Tolberg. A total of 32,000 households in Roosendaal will soon be able to use super-fast internet via fiber optic.
The total number of connections that Open Dutch Fiber has announced since April 2021 far exceeds 250,000 with the 32,000 households in Roosendaal. They are well on their way to providing 1 million Dutch households with super-fast internet via fiber optic. With almost 32,000 households in Roosendaal, Open Dutch Fiber is once again connecting a large area to fiber optic. The work will start at the end of January 2022, and the first homes will be connected in April 2022. Alderman Cees Lok is pleased with the agreement. "For individuals and businesses in the urban area of Roosendaal, it is important that they also have access to fast fiber optic connection. It is expected that home will become an important workplace in the future. Businesses have an increasing need for a faster and more reliable connection. And many young people will surely be happy with fast internet for their games."
On the way to 1,000,000 households
The installation of fiber optic in Roosendaal is part of the plan presented by Open Dutch Fiber in April 2021 to connect at least one million households in the Netherlands to fiber optic over the next five years. They choose urban areas where fiber optic is not yet available. In this way, Open Dutch Fiber makes a significant contribution to further digitalization of the Netherlands. Open Dutch Fiber sees opportunities to further expand this ambition in the coming years by connecting even more households to fiber optic.
