Almost 14,000 households in Kerkrade will have access to fiber optic.

Almost 14,000 households in Kerkrade will have access to super-fast internet via fiber optic from Open Dutch Fiber. It is expected that the first households can start using internet via fiber optic with speeds of up to 1 Gigabit per second (Gbps) from October 2022. Open Dutch Fiber is once again connecting a large area to fiber optic, making a significant contribution to the further digitalization of the Netherlands.

Of the total of 14,800 households, are divided over the neighborhoods Kerkrade North, East, and West. The work started in June and residents were informed about these activities by Open Dutch Fiber. The first households were connected in October.

High-quality and reliable fiber optic connections

"Approximately half of all Dutch people now have access to high-speed internet via fiber optic. Compared to other countries in Europe, we are lagging behind in this aspect. High-quality and reliable fiber optic connections are essential for the Netherlands and necessary for many applications such as remote working and healthcare.", says Floris van de Broek from Open Dutch Fiber.

Open Dutch Fiber only installs fiber optic in places where there is currently no fiber optic available. This way, we ensure that all of the Netherlands has access to competitive services via fiber optic as soon as possible.
