In Amsterdam-East, another 7,000 addresses will be connected to fiber optic.

Good news for residents in Amsterdam-East, as the construction of the fiber optic network will start in December 2023 in the Oosterparkbuurt, Weesperzijde, van der Kunbuurt, and de Omval. This will allow over 7,000 addresses to soon have access to high-speed internet. It is expected that the first addresses will be able to use services over the network starting from the summer of 2024.

With this, Open Dutch Fiber once again connects a large area to fiber optic and makes a substantial contribution to the further digitalization of the Netherlands. Open Dutch Fiber is working on rolling out fiber optic to over 2 million addresses by 2025. This way, more and more households will have access to super-fast internet via a fiber optic connection with upload and download speeds of up to 1 Gigabit per second.

"Fast internet via reliable fiber connections is essential for the Netherlands and necessary for many (future) applications such as remote working and healthcare. Open Dutch Fiber is laying an open fiber network to provide everyone in the Netherlands access to the best telecom infrastructure," says Floris van de Broek, CEO of Open Dutch Fiber.
