In Waalwijk, 14,500 households will receive fiber optic from Open Dutch Fiber.
In Waalwijk, 14,500 households will have access to super-fast internet via fiber optic from Open Dutch Fiber. It is expected that the first households can start using internet via fiber optic with speeds of up to 1 Gigabit per second (Gbps) from September 2022. Open Dutch Fiber is once again connecting a large area to fiber optic, making a significant contribution to further digitalization of the Netherlands.
The work started in July 2022, and residents were informed about these activities by Open Dutch Fiber. The first households were connected in September 2022. "It's great that a large group of residents will soon be able to enjoy the availability of fiber optic. With fiber optic, you have your own internet connection and don't have to share the cable with your neighbors. Make sure you are ready for the future and choose now, like many others, for fiber optic internet," said Alderman Ronald Bakker.
High-quality and reliable fiber optic connections
Open Dutch Fiber only installs fiber optic in places where there is currently no fiber optic available, in order to ensure that the whole of the Netherlands has access to competitive services via fiber optic as soon as possible.
Floris van den Broek CEO of Open Dutch Fiber: "Approximately half of all Dutch people now have access to high-speed internet via fiber optic. We are lagging behind compared to other countries in Europe. High-quality and reliable fiber optic connections are essential for the Netherlands and necessary for many applications such as remote working and healthcare. Open Dutch Fiber is accelerating the deployment of fiber optic in the Netherlands. Access to the possibilities of stable and fast internet via fiber optic should be available to everyone."
