Freedom of choice in fiber optic provider as ambition
Open Dutch Fiber attaches great importance to consumer choice. An open fiber network is crucial to achieve this. The open nature of the ODF network is therefore one of the cornerstones of the organization's success. Unlike other fiber networks, ODF is not an operator or provider itself, but instead provides all operators and thus providers in the Netherlands access to its fiber services. This means that operators are free to offer their services on the ODF network, creating more choice for consumers and businesses, regardless of their location or preferences. This stimulates competition, leading to better services and prices for consumers.
The importance of the open network of Open Dutch Fiber (ODF) is becoming increasingly clear due to the strategic steps the company is taking, such as opening up the network to three new operators, in addition to Odido. These developments underline ODF's commitment to improving the digital infrastructure in the Netherlands and making access to high-quality fiber optic networks possible for everyone. ODF offers an open network that provides 'pure dark fiber', enabling full competition, under very competitive conditions for anyone using the ODF network.
More than one provider
An important condition of an open network is collaborating with different providers. Odido has been working with Open Dutch Fiber since the company's inception. Furthermore, an increasing number of operators and providers are gaining access to the network. ODF has entered into new agreements with three operators; Fiber Operator, the Fiber Group, and WeServe. In these areas, residents and businesses will have even more freedom of choice in providers. Think of Freedom Internet, TriNed, SNLR.nl, Fiber.nl, Fiber Business, Quinnect, Teleplaza, Multifiber, ONVI, Stipte, Youfone, and RapidXS. Competition will increase in these areas, which is always beneficial for the consumer. All in all, the success and growth of Open Dutch Fiber show that an open network model, focusing on freedom of choice and collaboration, is essential for building a future-proof digital infrastructure in the Netherlands. Thanks to this approach, ODF can achieve its mission to contribute to the fiberization of the Netherlands by providing urban areas access to high-quality fiber optic networks. The open network of ODF will remain the backbone of a fast, reliable, and sustainable internet landscape in the Netherlands, and by 2025, it will be a reality for 2 million households.
