More than 42,000 households in Amsterdam Zuidoost provided with fiber optic
Open Dutch Fiber offers superfast internet via fiber optic to over 42,000 households in Amsterdam. It concerns the different Bijlmer neighborhoods Nellestein, Gein, Holendrecht, and Reigersbos. The first households in Amsterdam Southeast could start using internet via fiber optic with upload and download speeds of up to 1 Gigabit per second (Gbps) from July 2022. Open Dutch Fiber is once again connecting a large area to fiber optic and thus making a significant contribution to the further digitalization of the Netherlands.
In various neighborhoods where there is no fiber optic network yet, fiber optic has been installed. The total number of connections that Open Dutch Fiber has announced since April 2021 exceeds 400,000 with the addition of 42,000 extra households in the capital. The work will start in May 2022 and will be completed in Amsterdam Zuidoost by February 2023. Residents affected by the fiber optic installation work will be informed by Open Dutch Fiber. ODF recently announced that the fiber optic installation work has started in Amsterdam Bos en Lommer, Westerpark. The first homes will be connected in July 2022.
High-quality and reliable fiber optic connections
Open Dutch Fiber only installs fiber optic in areas where there is currently no fiber optic to ensure quick access to competitive services via fiber optic throughout the Netherlands.

Open Dutch Fiber accelerates the installation of fiber optic in the Netherlands. Access to the possibilities of stable and fast internet via fiber optic should be available to everyone.”
