Another 29,000 households in The Hague to be provided with fiber optic.
Open Dutch Fiber will offer superfast internet via fiber optic to over 29,000 households in The Hague. This includes the neighborhoods of Duinoord, Zeeheldenkwartier, Schildersbuurt, a part of Regentessekwartier, and a part of the city center. It is expected that the first households will be able to use superfast internet via fiber optic from September 2022.
In June 2022, the works will start and by May 2023, the works in these neighborhoods in The Hague were completed. Open Dutch Fiber is once again connecting a large area to fiber optic and thereby making a significant contribution to the further digitalization of the Netherlands. The total number of connections that Open Dutch Fiber has announced since April 2021 will exceed 480,000 with the addition of 29,000 households in The Hague.
High-quality and reliable fiber optic connections
Approximately half of all Dutch people now have access to high-speed internet via fiber optic. Compared to other countries in Europe, we are lagging behind in this aspect. High-quality and reliable fiber optic connections are essential for the Netherlands and necessary for many applications such as remote working and healthcare at a distance., says Floris van de Broek from Open Dutch Fiber.
At Odido, other telecom providers can also make use of the fiber optic network under very attractive conditions. "Open Dutch Fiber only installs fiber optic in areas where there is currently no fiber optic available. This way, we ensure that the whole of the Netherlands has access to competitive services via fiber optic as soon as possible."
