Open Dutch Fiber expands with acquisition of fiber optic network in Diemen-Zuid

Open Dutch Fiber (ODF) has acquired the fiber optic network Diemenglas from Diemen-Zuid. ODF announced a few weeks ago that the organization has increased its ambitions from 1 million to over 2 million fiber optic connections by 2025. This adjustment is due to accelerated deployment, as well as actively acquiring existing fiber optic networks. In addition to Diemenglas, ODF already acquired E-Fiber in 2022.

Open Dutch Fiber is the largest independent, open-access provider of fiber optic connections in the Netherlands. There are multiple providers and internet service providers active on the ODF network, including Odido, TriNed, Freedom Internet, and Fiber.nl. Open Dutch Fiber aims to provide as many households in the Netherlands as possible with competitive services via fiber optic. In doing so, the organization makes a significant contribution to the digitalization of the Netherlands.

Mathijs van den Nieuwenhuijzen, CFO Open Dutch Fiber: "I am happy with this acquisition. We are happy to add smaller fiber optic networks to the large ODF network, providing residents with access to even more choice of internet providers. We are committed to providing as many Dutch households as possible with fiber optic and all the possibilities it offers. This mission is one step closer with this acquisition."

For the residents currently using the Diemenglas network, nothing will change. They will receive information about the new providers that, in addition to the existing ones, will offer their services on the network.
