Open Dutch Fiber expands fiber network further with the arrival of 3 new operators

Fiber optic network operator Open Dutch Fiber (ODF) has recently signed new agreements for the provision of services over the ODF fiber optic network with three operators; Fiber Operator, the Fiber Group, and Weserve. This will give residents and businesses in many more areas greater freedom of choice. The three operators serve multiple providers such as Freedom Internet, TriNed, SNLR.nl, Fiber.nl, Fiber Business, Quinnect, Teleplaza, Multifiber, ONVI, Stipte, and RapidXS. Further opening up the network contributes to Open Dutch Fiber's mission to have 2 million households connected to their open fiber optic network by 2025 and to provide freedom of choice to all Dutch addresses.

ODF offers an open network that provides 'pure dark fiber', enabling full competition, under very competitive conditions for everyone using the ODF network. The agreements announced today are in line with the current trend in the Netherlands where telecom operators utilize existing fiber optic networks instead of digging up the streets to lay their own fiber optic cables.

Floris van den Broek, CEO of Open Dutch Fiber: "We are proud that these parties are joining the fiber optic network of Open Dutch Fiber. We are committed to an open market and believe it is important that more and more parties, in addition to our main tenant Odido, join us so that the fiber optic network becomes available to everyone. It is important to offer consumers and businesses more choices, and that is what these new providers are doing. As a truly open network, we want to provide freedom of choice to all users, regardless of their location or preferences.

Paul van Wanrooij, CEO of Fiber Operator: “Fiber Operator has been the largest operator on the fiber optic networks acquired by Open Dutch Fiber from E-Fiber for years. On these fiber optic networks, we are responsible for the services of multiple fiber optic providers, including our sister companies TriNed and SNLR.nl. It is therefore more than logical that we have secured our long-term partnership with Open Dutch Fiber and that we, as an operator, are also joining the existing and new fiber optic networks of Open Dutch Fiber in the Netherlands.

Robert Hesselman, CEO of the Fiber Group: “The Fiber Group has grown rapidly in recent years, both in the private and business sectors. As a result, we are seeing an increasing demand for services on networks built by Open Dutch Fiber. This collaboration is therefore an important step. This allows us to provide more customers with access to super-fast internet via the fiber optic network of Open Dutch Fiber. The open model of Open Dutch Fiber aligns perfectly with our growth ambitions.

Robert Nijhof, CEO of WeServe adds: “Weserve has been operating on the E-fiber network for various providers for years. After the acquisition of E-fiber by Open Dutch Fiber, it is a natural step to realize access for all providers on the ODF network. This allows us to continue our growth ambitions on the new and larger ODF network.
