Over 7,000 addresses in Oudkarspel, Noord-Scharwoude, Zuid-Scharwoude, and Broek op Langedijk will be connected to fiber optic

Starting from the end of June, the work will begin to connect residents of several villages in the municipality of Dijk en Waard to the fiber optic network of Open Dutch Fiber. Over 7,000 residents in Oudkarspel, Noord-Scharwoude, Zuid-Scharwoude, and Broek op Langedijk will have access to super-fast internet via a fiber optic connection with upload and download speeds of up to 1 Gigabit per second. It is expected that the first addresses will be able to start using internet via fiber optic from mid-August.

Open Dutch Fiber is working on the rollout of fiber optic to over 2 million addresses by 2025. They are focusing on urban areas where fiber optic is currently not available. With Oudkarspel, Noord-Scharwoude, Zuid-Scharwoude, and Broek op Langedijk, Open Dutch Fiber is connecting another large area to fiber optic, making a significant contribution to the further digitalization of the Netherlands.

High-quality and reliable fiber optic connections

“Fast internet through reliable fiber optic connections are essential for the Netherlands and necessary for many (future) applications such as remote working and remote healthcare. Open Dutch Fiber is building an open fiber optic network to provide everyone in the Netherlands access to the best telecom infrastructure”, says Floris van de Broek, CEO of Open Dutch Fiber.
