Open Dutch Fiber believes it is important that everyone has access to a fiber optic connection. In many urban areas, there is still no fiber optic network. The installation in these areas is challenging. In addition, the organization responsible for the installation has to deal with various stakeholders. Think of municipalities, contractors, residents, housing associations, and Owners' Association (VVEs). A smooth cooperation accelerates the installation. To achieve this, good communication, clear agreements, and a clear process are determining factors. Since its establishment in 2021, ODF has therefore continuously worked hard to ensure optimal conditions.
A good example of this is the collaboration with housing corporations. Many of these organizations are already involved in fiber optic installation. Almost every housing corporation is willing to contribute to stable, fast, and future-proof internet for its residents. Open Dutch Fiber offers residents an open network where all providers can offer their services. Other fiber optic installers mainly offer their own subscriptions.
Time is often the major challenge for these housing corporations. The installation of fiber optic cables interferes with other projects that housing corporations are already fully occupied with. Therefore, ODF tries to relieve these parties as much as possible. This is done in various ways:
A clear processBeforehand, the entire process is thoroughly discussed. ODF creates a plan for each building in the form of an inspection document and coordinates this with the owner of the building. At the beginning of each project, ODF meets with the contractor (who carries out the installation) and the housing corporation.
Chimney inspection documents in orderThe inspection documents are standardized, and their approval also goes through the same digitized process each time. Housing corporations generally have multiple locations where fiber optic is being installed.
Periodic meetings with ODFThe construction will remain in the hands of ODF, they will remain involved at all times. Even when the contractor is busy with the construction.
Assistance with communicationFor many housing corporations, it is important to communicate effectively with residents. Open Dutch Fiber supports this by assisting with such communication. This includes providing templates for letters or information for the corporation's website, for example.
By streamlining processes as efficiently as possible, Open Dutch Fiber achieves acceleration, with the vision that stakeholders experience as little impact as possible. Transparency and communication are key words in this regard. Only by collaborating effectively with all stakeholders can Open Dutch Fiber connect 2 million Dutch addresses to the stable, fast, and open fiber optic network at an accelerated pace.
