Fiber internet. You choose. We connect.
We’re building the digital future by rolling out our fiber network. On our open network, you’re in complete control. You choose the provider that best suits your needs for internet, TV, and phone service. This way, you benefit from a network that’s accessible to everyone and enjoy the freedom to choose the service plan that’s right for you.
What makes Open Dutch Fiber different from other networks?
Other networks act as both network operators and internet service providers. They build the network and provide their own services over it. Freedom of choice? There’s hardly any.
We do things differently. We are just the network. That means multiple providers can offer their services through our network.
More choice gives you better deals in the long run. That’s what an open network does. Depending on where you live, different providers are available.
Fiber internet: what is it and what does it do for you?
Fiber is a cable made of ultra-thin glass. Data travels through it as pulses of light. That makes fiber fundamentally different from copper or coax cables: faster, more stable and unaffected by distance from the street cabinet.
The benefits of fiber.
1. Super fast internet
With fiber, you can enjoy internet speeds that are 20 times faster than with traditional connections.
2. Reliable and stable
Only fiber internet can handle all the avid internet users in the Netherlands without the network faltering.
3. Open network
Thanks to Open Dutch Fiber's open network, you can choose the provider and package that best suits your needs.
Plenty of freedom to compare
On our open network, you have plenty of freedom to compare options. You can use our stable connection to compare different packages side by side. Consider the speed you need, additional TV options, or the best price. You weigh the options and choose the plan that’s right for you.

Who are we?
We are Open Dutch Fiber, and we are building a network in Amsterdam that is ready for the future. We are currently installing this modern fiber network in more than 50 municipalities to meet the growing demand for fast internet. Our strength lies in our close collaboration with the municipality of Amsterdam, local housing associations, and experienced partners. This enables us to ensure that every home in your neighborhood, from single-family homes to apartment complexes, can be connected quickly and efficiently.
We have big ambitions: we want to connect two million households throughout the Netherlands to our reliable network. What makes us unique is that our network is ‘open’. This means that in Amsterdam, you are not tied to a single provider, but have the freedom to choose the provider that suits you best. Together with our partners, we are making super-fast internet accessible to every resident, so you can stream, work, and game carefree in your own home.

Frequently asked questions
Why switch from cable internet to fiber optic? That's simple. Fiber optic internet is faster and more stable. Read more about the difference between fiber optic and cable internet and why switching to fiber optic is a wise choice.
We have been installing our network in Roosendaal since 2022, and the cable is now available in most streets. Because we are activating neighborhood by neighborhood, the status may vary per street. Do the fiber check to immediately see whether your home is included in the current connection round and which providers deliver to your address.
Yes, you will receive a free connection to our fiber network as soon as you take out a subscription with one of the providers. We will then ensure the connection is installed all the way into your home. There are two situations where additional costs may apply:
Connection fee for specific addresses: For some homes located far outside the city or village center, a contribution is required. You can check the status of your address by using the postcode check on our website.
Additional wall socket (switch plug) in the meter box: Our contractor needs a power point for the fiber equipment. If there is no free socket available, the technician can install an extra socket for you. Te costs are €135,- including installation and materials.
NB: You must pay this amount in cash to the technician after the installation is finished.

No, if you have subscribed to fiber optic services, it is not necessary to give permission. Open Dutch Fiber will then receive a signal from the provider to install a fiber optic connection point in your home. Subsequently, the technician will come by appointment to install the fiber optic connection point.
We start with excavation work in the street. The sidewalk is partially dug up and we lay the fiber cables in the ground. A fiber cable is available for each house. The sidewalk is usually neatly closed within one day. Before we start these activities, you will receive a letter and a flyer from us with information. After that, we will (depending on the situation at your address) install the fiber connection in the house. Once the provider has installed their services, you can start using super-fast fiber. Read here more about when fiber will be available at your address.
