Open Dutch Fiber is installing fiber cables in Utrecht
In the municipality of Utrecht, over 100,000 homes are being connected to the fiber optic network of Open Dutch Fiber. The installation started in De Meern and Veldhuizen in 2021. This was followed by Tuindorp, Vogelenbuurt, Tuinwijk, Pijlsweerd, Zeeheldenbuurt, Lauwerecht, and Wittevrouwen. In January 2023, the installation began in Utrecht North-West and Overvecht. In September 2023, the work in Vleuten and the rural area was added to the project. And now Utrecht-Centrum follows as well.

Fiber optic is being installed in phases in Utrecht.
ODF started the installation of fiber optic in 2021. We have divided each district into different areas. Each area has its own schedule which is communicated to residents.
Utrecht - Center
Open Dutch Fiber (ODF) intends to provide fiber optic in Utrecht-Centrum as well. We are currently laying fiber optic in 56 municipalities, including many parts of Utrecht. Soon, we will also start with the preparations for the installation in the center of Utrecht. Over 12,000 households in Utrecht-Centrum will then have access to super-fast internet via fiber optic from Open Dutch Fiber.
If everything goes according to plan, we will start with the installation of fiber optic in the historic city center around mid-2024. We will begin by installing house connections in all residences. The first excavation works will start after the summer. The works will continue until around mid-2025. You can check the status at your address through the postcode check.
Utrecht - De Meern
Residents in Utrecht De Meern can now also subscribe to a fiber optic internet subscription from various other providers in addition to Odido. Do the postcode check and see which providers offer services at your address.
Utrecht - North East
Even Utrecht North East will soon be able to enjoy superfast internet via fiber optic. The construction works for the installation of fiber optic internet in Utrecht North East started in November 2021. The first houses have already been connected. Utrecht - South
The construction works for the installation of fiber optic internet in South Utrecht started in August 2022. You can check the status at your address via the postcode check.
Utrecht - North West
29,000 households in Utrecht North-West will have access to super-fast internet via fiber optic from Open Dutch Fiber. The households are located in the neighborhoods of Overvecht, Ondiep and Zuilen including the AmsterdamsestraatwegThe activities started in January 2023. Utrecht - Vleuten
4,000 households in Utrecht Vleuten and in the rural area of Vleuten will receive fiber optic from Open Dutch Fiber. The first works have started in September 2023. A personal contribution is required for some addresses in the rural area. You can check via the postcode check when we will be installing fiber optic in your area.

In Utrecht Vleuten, 4,000 addresses will have access to superfast internet via fiber optic from Open Dutch Fiber. It is expected that the first households can start using internet via fiber optic with upload and download speeds up to 1 Gigabit per second (Gbps) from January 2024.

Open Dutch Fiber starts fiber installation in Utrecht
Open Dutch Fiber will install superfast internet via fiber optic in two parts of Utrecht. The construction will start this autumn. First in De Meern and Veldhuizen, and shortly after, the first shovel will hit the ground in the northeastern part of the city, including the neighborhoods of Tuindorp, Vogelenbuurt, Tuinwijk, Pijlsweerd, Zeeheldenbuurt, Lauwerecht, and Wittevrouwen. In total, almost 30,000 households will be connected.

To be able to use superfast internet via fiber optic, you need a subscription with a provider. Open Dutch Fiber is an open fiber optic network. This means that any provider who wants to can offer services through our network. The providers and where they offer their services vary from area to area.
