Open Dutch Fiber and KPN

In the Netherlands, multiple parties are installing fiber. That's why we often get the question: can I choose KPN as a provider on the Open Dutch Fiber network? The answer is simple: no. KPN only provides through its own fiber network. Open Dutch Fiber has a different network with other providers. Here you can read how it works and which choices you do have.

How does fiber work at KPN?

KPN has its own fiber network. KPN installs fiber optics itself in many cities and villages and also manages that network. On this network, KPN and several fixed partners provide their internet, TV, and telephone services. Because KPN has its own network, these providers do not automatically provide services via the Open Dutch Fiber network.

In short:

●       ODF network → providers who collaborate with ODF

●       KPN network → KPN and providers that use the KPN network

What does Open Dutch Fiber do?

Open Dutch Fiber installs fiber in more and more cities and villages. We build the network, connect homes, and ensure that the connection continues to work stably.

The Open Dutch Fiber network is an open network. This means multiple providers can offer their services on the same network. As a result, residents can choose their own fiber provider and from different packages, speeds, and prices.

Not every fiber network works this way. For example, the KPN network is a closed network. This means that only KPN itself offers services on that network. So you cannot choose from multiple providers there.

By working with an open network, Open Dutch Fiber gives residents more freedom and flexibility in signing up for a subscription that suits their usage.

Which providers can you choose at ODF?

The Open Dutch Fiber fiber network is open. As a result, multiple providers can offer their internet, and you can choose the provider that best suits you.

Depending on your address, there are different providers available, such as Odido, Fiber, and other national providers. Each provider composes its own packages. They determine the speed, the price, and any extras themselves. Think of internet-only, internet with TV, or special offers for new customers.

Curious about which providers deliver to your address? On the provider page of Open Dutch Fiber, you can see all providers active on the network in one overview. This way, you can easily compare and choose a subscription that fits your usage and budget.
