16,000 households in Haarlem will receive fiber

Nov 3, 2022

16,000 households in Haarlem will have access to superfast internet via fiber optic from Open Dutch Fiber. It is expected that the first households can start using internet via fiber optic with up- and download speeds of up to 1 Gigabit per second (Gbps) by the end of January. Open Dutch Fiber is once again connecting a large area to fiber optic and thereby making a substantial contribution to the further digitalization of the Netherlands.

The work started in October 2022. Residents are informed by Open Dutch Fiber about the work. The first households have been using fiber since 2023.

High-quality and reliable fiber connections

''Fast internet via reliable fiber connections is essential for the Netherlands and necessary for many (future) applications such as working from home and remote care. Open Dutch Fiber is laying an open fiber network to provide everyone in the Netherlands with access to the best telecom infrastructure,'' says Floris van de Broek, CEO of Open Dutch Fiber. ''By closely collaborating with municipalities, housing corporations, and owners' associations, we realize our projects faster.''
