Open Dutch Fiber and Budget Thuis expand access to affordable fiber broadband

May 26, 2026

Bunnik, May 26, 2026 – Open Dutch Fiber (ODF) and Budget Thuis have announced a partnership agreement that will bring Budget Thuis onto ODF’s open-access fiber network as an internet service provider. This further expands the number of providers on ODF’s network and lays the foundation for greater choice for consumers.

ODF makes its fiber infrastructure available to multiple internet providers and is further expanding this offering with Budget Thuis as a new internet service provider. Thanks to this partnership, Budget Thuis—a provider of energy, internet, television, and mobile services—can offer customers fiber-optic internet services at very competitive rates. This aligns with the company’s broader strategy to keep energy and telecom services affordable, with the goal of reducing customers’ fixed costs and increasing their financial flexibility. By combining energy, internet & television, and mobile services, customers benefit from additional discounts. The partnership will launch shortly with a phased rollout, starting in the Amsterdam region. From there, Budget Thuis will gradually become available across the entire Open Dutch Fiber network.

Reliable, fast, and affordable

The partnership aligns seamlessly with ODF’s mission: to offer reliable digital connectivity with maximum freedom of choice for internet service providers and their end users via its open fiber-optic network. This network now reaches 1.5 million Dutch households, including major cities such as Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, and Utrecht.

“We believe that consumers should have the freedom to choose the fiber internet package that best suits their needs. The addition of Budget Thuis reinforces that principle and makes fiber even more accessible to a broad audience. This leads to greater market competition, a wider range of offerings, and thus more choice in high-quality internet services,” said Koen Cluistra, CCO of ODF.

Through the ODF network, Budget Thuis can offer its affordable fiber-optic services on an even larger scale. Budget Thuis already uses the KPN network. “Thanks to this expansion, we can provide an ever-larger part of the Netherlands with fast and affordable fiber-optic internet,” says Maarten Boom, Director of Telecom at Budget Thuis. “For many people, fixed costs, such as internet, are structurally too high. With Budget Thuis, we offer a competitively priced alternative without compromising on quality. The partnership with ODF as our partner network helps us bring that benefit to even more households. We are incredibly proud of that, because that’s what we do it for: helping Dutch people lower their fixed costs.”

Consumers can order Budget Thuis fiber optic service via the ODF network through Budget Thuis’s channels. In addition, consumers can also visit ODF’s local service points and website. More information about availability and the launch date will follow shortly.
