Open Dutch Fiber celebrates and goes all out in Amsterdam, Hoorn, and Roosendaal!
Apr 22, 2026
Bunnik, April 22, 2026, Open Dutch Fiber (ODF) is celebrating its fifth anniversary, and the company is not letting it go unnoticed. What began in April 2021 as an ambitious fiber optic initiative has grown into the largest open and neutral fiber optic network in the Netherlands. Currently, over 1.5 million households have access to the ODF network. The anniversary not only represents growth but also a new step towards residents: ODF brings fiber optic closer with a local service concept, right in the neighborhood.

Grown by staying open
ODF builds and manages a large fiber optic network, but does not sell internet itself. This provides all providers with equal opportunities and offers residents maximum freedom of choice. There are already 9 operators and 12 internet providers active on the network. The rapid rollout and open approach did not go unnoticed: in 2025, ODF was nominated as one of the fastest growing companies in the Information & Communication category.
Built for today and tomorrow
The ODF network is fully point-to-point: each home has its own fiber optic. That means high speed, reliable connections, and room to grow with new digital applications. Simply put: a network that is ready for the future.
"Your neighborhood has it, now you too!"
With the growth of fiber optics, the need for clear advice and explanation is also increasing. Therefore, ODF is starting local service points in the neighborhood during this anniversary year. Residents can visit these points with questions about installation, planning, and the possibilities of fiber optics; accessible, personal, and independent. Because thanks to the open network, ODF can help compare and provide independent advice.
From temporary store to fiber optic bus
The kickoff takes place in Amsterdam Oud-West, Hoorn, and Roosendaal. In Amsterdam, ODF is opening a temporary store on Kinkerstraat, where anyone can walk in without an appointment. In Hoorn and Roosendaal, ODF is bringing the recognizable fiber optic bus to the neighborhood. Subsequently, this concept will be rolled out in many more locations.
""Fiber optic may be technical, but it must be especially understandable," thus ODF. "By being locally present, we take the time for questions and really help residents move forward."
Looking ahead
Open Dutch Fiber continues to invest in the network, strong collaborations with operators and ISPs, and smart automation. Recently, ODF extended its collaboration with SPIE Nederland, an important step for managing the network in Southern Netherlands.
CEO Paul Naastepad:"Five years of ODF is a wonderful moment, but above all a starting point. We continue to build an open fiber optic network that helps the Netherlands further in the digitization of the future."
