The subscription

Answering these 4 questions will make choosing much easier.

Just a few more steps before you can smoothly switch to fiber optic.

Once the subscription is arranged, there are only a few things left to consider so that the installation of your new fiber optic package goes smoothly.

Tip 1 Email

If you switch to fiber optic, you will lose the email address that you received from your provider. But don't worry. There is plenty of time to switch because the law states that you will still have access to your email for at least 6 months. So, go ahead and get an independent email address now, such as @.outlook.com I'm sorry, but the text "@ " does not contain enough information for me to provide a meaningful translation. If you could provide more context or details, I would be happy to help with the translation.gmail.comThen you can set up automatic forwarding of emails from the old address to the new address and use an 'automatic reply' to inform everyone who sends you an email of the new email address.

Tip 2 The cabling of the TV

In TV, you have 2 types of cabling: UTP cable (internet signal) or coaxial cable. If you currently have a subscription with Ziggo, your TV is connected via coaxial cable. With KPN or another interactive TV provider, it is connected via a UTP cable. The TV can also be connected via the electrical network, using so-called powerline adapters. But that is actually the same as using a UTP cable.

Do you currently have Ziggo and therefore a coaxial cable installed? Then you have 2 options to choose from: 1, interactive TV which allows you to record and watch back, or 2, linear TV. With linear TV, you watch whatever is on TV at that moment. Just like in the old days, so to speak.

If you choose option 1, you can go to any provider. In that case, an Ethernet cable must always be laid. Or you can choose the option with powerline adapters or Wifi.

If you choose option 2, then TriNed is the only choice. You can then use the existing coaxial cable.

If you are a customer of KPN or another interactive TV provider, the right cables are already in place. You can use UTP cables, powerline adapters, or Wi-Fi. There are more and more 'smart' TVs that work well with the TV app from providers in combination with Wi-Fi. If it works reasonably well now, it will only work better via fiber optic!

Tip 3 Installing the router, wifi, and TV

Our tip is to always choose to have the router, wifi, and TV installed by the provider. If you have the provider's technician come, you can be sure that you won't be left without internet or TV. Also, have them connect the printer and your mobile phone to the wifi right away. And don't forget about the solar panels and the heat pump... Sometimes providers charge around 50 euros to connect those extra devices. But consider it as an investment. It's better to install everything correctly at once than to endlessly call customer service. If you are a professional-plus-plus and know exactly what to do, then of course you can do it yourself.

Have it done by a professional.

Tip 4 Check the customer service.

Internet and TV nowadays are like water from the tap: it usually works well. But if something does go wrong, you want to be helped quickly and efficiently. Just check it out. How? Call the providers on your list. Ask them about their opening hours during the week and on weekends. Also, casually ask if they have any special offers for you. Who knows!

Are they easily reachable? Were you spoken to nicely? Do you have a good feeling about it? Go ahead and order.
